Useless Objects is a series of drawings I made in my first studio after I graduated from my BA.

Now that I was making work with no clear purpose like an exhibition, a grade or feedback, I wondered what does it mean to make art when no one is watching? Like the proverbial tree falling in an empty forest, I questioned whether creation without witness still held weight.

The creatures in the images are all discarded and unwanted found objects, both ugly and purposeless. This resonated with me as someone who was trying to get a foot in a door of an institution I could not fit within. These useless objects are repurposed as agents who question what it means to exist without assigned value, designated purpose, or a space to belong within.
