Useless Objects is a series of drawings I made in my first studio after I graduated from my BA.

Feeling untethered now that I was making work with no clear purpose like an exhibition, a grade or feedback, I wondered what does it mean to make art when no one is watching? Like the proverbial tree falling in an empty forest, I questioned whether creation without witness still held weight.

The creatures in the images were all based on discarded and unwanted objects, both ugly and purposeless, which resonated with me as someone who was trying to get a foot in a door of an institution I could not understand. These useless objects wondered with me what it means to exist without assigned value.
